What does Compostable mean?
"Compostable" refers to the ability of a material to break down into natural elements in a compost environment, under the right conditions, within a specific timeframe. Composting is a natural process where organic materials decompose into nutrient-rich soil called compost, which can then be used to enrich gardens and landscapes. Compostable materials are typically made from organic matter such as plant fibers, food scraps, or biodegradable polymers derived from natural sources like cornstarch or sugarcane.
What Material is the Poop Bag made of?
Our compostable Poop Bag is made of renewable resources such as PBAT (a biodegradable polymer) and Corn Starch, reducing reliance on finite fossil fuels and contributing to a more sustainable future. PBAT and corn starch are biodegradable materials that break down into carbon dioxide, water, and organic matter through microbial action. This natural decomposition process produces compost, a valuable soil amendment that enriches soil health and promotes plant growth.
How long does it take for the Poop Bag to degrade and compost?
Average degradation period for a single bag takes 180 days. This is quite remarkable compared to a plastic material that could take hundreds of years to decompose under the same conditions in a landfill.
Which Rubbish Bin should I dispose the bags in?
You should dispose the compostable bags in a Red Bin, along with other non-compostable rubbish. The difference it makes is that these bags decompose in the land fill much faster, and still reduce the impact in the environment. Councils in Australia have not yet officially decided to dispose these compostable bags in the Green bin.
What is the size of the Poop Bag?
Our Flagship Product, the Compostable Pet Poop Bag measures 22cm width x 32cm height. A single roll measures 6cm wide x 3cm in diameter.
